Alberto
“See those clouds,” Alberto says, pointing to the volcano overhead. “It will rain in
two weeks.” And he was right.
Alberto is as much a part of his land as the trees he planted on it. His care for the shade, soil and coffee trees shows in the quality and productivity of the coffee. Alberto makes the most of the little land he has, growing citrus, banana, corn, avocado, beans, squashes and coffee all intercropped. The citrus and avocado trees offer wonderful low maintenance shade for the coffee while the banana trees are great for fast growing shade and provide plenty of organic material for the soil.
